Helio wants to thank everyone for their support. The phone calls and emails mean a lot to him.
Since he was 12 years old he has been a race car driver and he will face this case as a difficult race.
Helio doesn’t know much about the tax laws in the United States. For that reason, he has experienced lawyers and accountants at his side.
He has faith that he will win this case, since he knows he is not guilty.

Hello! I just wanted to let you know you and in my thoughts and prayers. You and your sister and amazing people and I know that you will be able to make it through this and that things will work out for you.
You positive and happy personality is a quality that not everyone has and talking to you for even a brief second can make someones day brighter. Don’t let this change who you are.
Hopefully I will get to see you at a few races next season and until then enjoy your down time.

I’m sure this whole court deal has taken a lot out of you, but know that this fan is in your corner pulling for you. I’m already going through racing withdrawal even though I stayed up until Midnight to watch the Australian race during the rebroadcast on ESPN2. I’m ready for the 2009 season.
I’ve been following your career since 2002, when I saw you being interviewed during the Indy 500 television coverage. Then I traveled to Indianapolis (for a completely different reason) during 2005, I had a chance to watch some practicing and was able to take in Pole Day that year. I became completely hooked on the sport after seeing everything live. I’ve been traveling to Newton IA the last 2 years to see you race at the new speedway and will continue to do as long the IRL continues to place Iowa on the schedule. I loved when you were selected to be on DWTS and was able to “introduce” you to many of my friends and co-workers. I was extremely happy when they announced you as the winner! I loved watching you dance every week and the show hasn’t been the same since. Hope to see you again on there soon or any other TV program so that the off season won’t seem so long by seeing your smiling face.

I have never seen anyone as happy, charismatic, nice, and joyful as you! I really wish we had more Helios in this world….there would definitely be more peace! Every now and then, I watch your dances on DWTS and think to myself, will there ever be another Helio on DWTS? Probably not…after you, there hasn’t been any star/dancer yet….none of them are able to connect with the audience as well as you! I ask myself, would another star ever be as down to earth as Helio, when I met with Helio and he was so nice to me, as if he knew me? Probably not…Anyways, my point is, you are one of a kind! You truly make EVERYONE happy when they watch you on TV (and in real life, for those who are lucky enough to attend your races)!
I pray for you to be in peace during this difficult waiting time….I pray you will be able to reunite with your parents in Brazil one day, and that you will be the ET reporter again! I really miss watching you! You bring a smile to my face no matter when I watch videos of you!

Helio, glad to see you and Ryan did well in the Laguna Seca race. Sorry there wasn’t a win for you, but both of you came out safe, and that’s always a blessing. I was surprised that there weren’t many interviews with drivers before, during or after the race. One of the announcers said he had spoken to you about the track, but you were never interviewed on camera. I’m curious, are you restricted as to who you can speak to on camera? I had expected to see you again by now on Entertainment Tonight…and what about the rumors you were going to come on Dancing with the Stars during this season? We all miss you, but we understand if it’s because you can’t do anything about it. Hopefully, it is not the decision of these shows. You have not been proven guilty of anything, and we want you back again!! If you can’t leave us a blog explaining this, can you have someone else let us know what’s happening? Love & God Bless.

Hi Helio, just want to add to what another post said,that if there is anything your fans can do to help, let us know. I really believe every one of them would do whatever to help if you need it. Your own character and decency should speak loud enough to what kind of person you are. It is outrageous for IRS to treat you as a criminal because there is no way you are that. If you took some bad advice, so be it, set it straight and go on. We really miss you on DWTS and ET and any other appearances you may make. But so thankful to see you race. So thanks to the judge for helping us all out on that one!!! You bring a lot of good into many lives and give us something to look forward to. Dear Helio, After reading(National Speed Sport News) what the IRS did to you in court the other day, I had to write. I could not believe that they actually shackled you. There are soooo many people in Washington that deserve to be in cuffs!!!!! Especially the worst president I have seen in my lifetime!! I was shocked and angry for you. You did not deserve that kind of treatment. I’m hoping that after you finish with this chapter of your life, you will fire that loser lawyer, and go on with your very successful life. You have been the class of Indy Car racing going back to your first days in CART.
Your enthausium and love of life gives everyone a positive attitude and that in turn makes it deplorable to see how inhumane you were treated by the IRS in Miami! It is an outrage, however, I know you have and will continue to turn it into a positive and when you are finally exonerated once again our government will be embarassed.
Instead of focusing on our lousy economy and going after the real criminals to avoid such things as the Enron fiasco which impacted numerous good citizens retirement and now our credit market mess, they pick on you and treat you like an animal.
Stay positive, keep you faith and religion and remember; “good things happen to good people”!

Federal prosecutors: if you’re listening, there’s WAY too much to go after in this global financial crisis to sink time and taxpayer $$$ to “try” and make an “example” of small potatoes like this!!! I’m so sad over all this. Things are so bad for most of us,The economy is so bad, we have trouble wondering how the bills are gonna get paid..how will I buy food, where will I get money to get to my job for the rest of the pay period, etc. Can’t they just let us have one positive person in our lives at this time? I always enjoy watching you race,looking at your videos on youtube, Seeing your wonderful smile gives me hope for the future for me and the rest of the world. After the fire in Sonoma, you won the race…after starting last in Chicago, you won the race…and after a terrible injustice was done to you, you won the race in Atlanta. Just sitting here at work and wanted you to know that I was thinking of you. Hope all is well there with you and Kati. I hope that they are looking into how to let you race in Australia in a couple weeks. It just won’t be a real race if your not there. Hi Helio…I was shocked at the accusations on tax fraud. I think someone framed
you! I don’t believe it. I was really angry at these charges when I read them
and wanted to lash out at whomever was behind this. I think everyone who knows
you (except maybe your competitors and/or your ex) would defend you. I hope you
have a good lawyer to represent you. Millions of your fans will be outraged if
these charges aren’t dropped. The World already has too much turmoil. We don’t
need one of our favorite celebrities to be targeted like this!! Send the IRS your
DWTS videos and maybe they will see that your personality doesn’t fit the crimes.
You are a caring free spirit that wouldn’t hurt anyone or purposely do something
so foolish that would destroy your life. I’m sure you were trusting to anyone you

Helio, I am also praying for you every day. I wanted to ask you about your parents in Brazil. How are they doing through all this? It must be very difficult for all of you to be apart right now. I don’t think I saw them at your races this year, and I wondered if they were denied entry to the U.S. by the government? I remember when you saw them on video during Dancing with the Stars last year, you seemed like it had been a while since you were all together, and it was very emotional for you. Family and friends are all that’s important right now. It doesn’t matter if you had all the money in the world…it wouldn’t mean anything without those you love. I pray all this with the IRS gets resolved very quickly. When this does gets resolved (and it will), don’t forget to celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving to God. As a U.S. citizen, I think this whole indictment is an OUTRAGE and a HUGE waste of taxpayer money. It sounds like a big showboat to me…perhaps, politically motivated. Just to let you know that my heart felt heavy first time I heard the accusations towards you. But I have been praying for you, Kati and your family everyday that God will continue to strengthen you and your family during this difficult time. I believe in your innocence 100%. Being a naturalized US citizens since the ’70s, we still don’t understand the US tax laws; that’s why we also depend on accountants who keep themselves up to date regarding changes in tax laws to do our income taxes thru the yrs. We have never done our own taxes because it is so confusing for us. We don’t have any business nor are we rich, but we still preferred to use the tax people trained in this to do our taxes. Keep up your faith in God. He will never fail you nor your family, and will always be there for you. I know, because I have experienced His presence in all aspects of my life.

I want you to know that I totally believe in you. I know that you did not do anything wrong. It is just not in your character. I want to thank you for giving me one of the best years of my life. I did not know who you were at first on “Dancing with the Stars”, but it did not take me long to know who I wanted to win. You won me over almost immediately. It was an exciting race.
