Your words about the scars and healing really touched my heart. It will take time, as you said, and I will continue my prayers for you, Kati and your whole family. I know what it is like to be oppressed by a behemoth and to be left without recourse for restitution. I was wronged by my neurosurgeon, even though I was fortunate enough to have the top of the crop only because, after two years of inaccurate diagnosis, my insurance company insisted that only he perform my surgery. Just like the U.S. government devalued you my surgeon devalued me- both acted unjustly. And I had no recourse because this leading surgeon was too powerful in the legal profession as well, he being what I call their bread and butter. To this day he is still listed as the top neurosurgeon in our city and yet I will be disabled for the rest of my life because of his arrogance. Despite my limitations I learned some valuable lessons, spiritual ones that -in my opinion- are more valuable than fool’s gold because they drew me closer to God through a deeper, less superficial, understanding of HIS Word. God’s Word was really my only source of comfort when I tried to comprehend how and why some people do what they do. Although the search for this “pearl of high value” was sometimes agonizing… to quote God’s own Word, “to those who are trained by it it yields peaceable fruit.”

Hope I’m not rambling too much for you. I just can’t sleep tonight for some reason and as I kept tossing and turning I couldn’t get what happened to you out of my mind. I kind of felt Robin’s joke and Dave’s question were insensitive to what treachery you and your family have had to endure. You responded in your usual gracious form. I think I recognize why you have to also. Your strength that way is admirable. I used to be that kind of person too, but since my own treacherous experience I find it much easier to cast off those who make demands of me or who try to manipulate me. Of course, I don’t have anything left to protect but my personal relationship with my Lord and Savior, so it’s easy for me to do that. Despite your oppression, you have many, many blessings for which to be thankful. I hope those blessings will help you when your emotional pain surfaces, and that when they can’t I hope you will turn to God. Not just in prayer for what you think you need, but also in reading God’s Word in order to receive more fully what HE knows you need, which is understanding of the truth. As Jesus told his disciples, “If you remain in my word, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”(John 8, I think)
