Helio, just wondering what you’ll be doing between now and the Indy 500 on May 24th. I know you’ll be in Indy for most of the month of May, but do you have any appearances lined up here in Indy, or will you be doing any interview shows on TV? I went to the race at the Kansas Speedway yesterday. I won the tickets. I have never been to a race before (any car race). I realized that you were driving and I was so excited. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that you were the same person I watched on Dancing With the Stars. I looked at the paper and saw that you would be starting at the back. I was on the edge of my seat the whole race. I just wanted you to know that I thought you were the most exciting driver on the track, and definately worth watching again.

I just realized something (after I took my TAKS test and was sitting there bored) – I was worried after that first wreck with you and Vitor. Then I remembered something – you can handle almost anything that comes your way.
Found it cute before the race when you started blushing when talking about Danica. Does someone has a little crush on his friend?
Also, loved reading your and TK’s post race press conference. You two are so entertaining (as Tony is when he and Dario make hair bets). What white hairs was your buddy talking about?
Can’t wait for Indy. I think this year is your year. You’ll be the one climbing the fence, drinking the milk, and getting your face on the Borg-Warner trophy for the third time.
Your stats are awesome at Indy. Except for one year (’06), you have had finishes better than 9th. Let’s keep that streak alive.

What a fabulous race yesterday for you – coming from the back twice – “oh, baby!” I will have to admit, I was the queen of the remote yesterday cause I was flipping channels – I couldn’t stand not watching the finish of Dega cause there certainly was excitement going on there as well. Wow – I was worn out after both races…. Can’t wait for Indy and hope to be at Sparta at the end of July. Bummed out cause they took Nashville off the schedule this year; however, last year was my first race and of course, you know what happened at Nashville – there was more than a sprinkle going on.
My husband and I can’t wait until the month of May. We got bronze badges again this year and hope to be out there as often as possible. We’re so excited to see you again (we saw you last year a couple different times). My husband and I even have a very special gift for you for your birthday, which I hope we can give to you in person! We love you Helio and will be cheering you on to your 3rd win this year!

Oh my goodness Helio, my daughters and I are so proud of you today! We were at an Angels game and I tried to watch the race from my sister’s phone, with no avail. I didn’t want to know who won tho, the anticipation was heartwrenching!!! I recorded the race and watched, and oh my gosh, you got hit right away! Nooooo! We were so freaked out that you’d be out of the race, we’re new race fans as of last year, we don’t know any better. We were so excited to see you get up front. If i walked away from the tv, my daughters would scream to me what place you kept moving up to…it was cute. Many congrats on getting 2nd place!!! You totally deserve it, you worked your way up as we thought you would. We knew it’d be a good race and challenge for you, when you were sent to the back during qualifying…but we knew you’d get up there.
I love your attitude and high spirits…keep it up!
We saw you at Long Beach this year, from afar, and it was so awesome! My mission is to get out to an oval, I guess in Texas. But if we can’t, we’ll try to cheer you on in Sonoma! All this time living near Long Beach, CA and i never really paid any attention to Indy until seeing you on DWTS…we voted for you by the way!! We’ve missed many of your wins, but looking forward to many more!!

It really was very exciting watching you zoom up from the back twice. I’ll bet you didn’t mind either…that’s your idea of FUN isn’t it?
I’ll be coming to the Indy 500 in May with my family. It’s not my first Indy 500, but it’s the first one I’ve been to in about 34 years. Wow…you were born the same year I saw my last Indy 500 in person. I’m really looking forward to it.
I hope I have a chance to meet you during the month of May. You are such an inspiration to everyone, and I have seen a change in you since you returned to racing. You are still joyful and funny, but there seems to be a very deep sense of appreciation and humility which comes when you have gone through a very traumatic situation and come through it with God’s help. The photo of you in Long Beach waving to your fans during the driver introductions touched my heart. From the look on your face in that photo, no trophy could ever mean as much to you as those who have stood by you through all of this.
I’m so very proud of you Helio. Indianapolis will certainly give you a tremendously warm welcome when you arrive…we can’t wait!!!!!!!!

That was a fantastic race. We had know doubt that you could come from the back to the front.2nd place is a great come back for it only being your 2nd race. Now on to Indy and the big race. I can’t wait. This time instead of watching it on TV we’ll be watching from the stands. It’s our first time to attend the Indy 500. Last years Indy was the first one we had ever watched and it was all because of you. We had watched you on DWTS and wanted to see what kind of Race Car driver you were. We also wanted to see if your personality was the same on the track as it was on the dance floor. I have to say we were not disappointed in your racing or the man that you are. That was definitely the best race of the season so far! Exciting race, Helio. Great job with all the setbacks. Saw the Versus interview after the race and have to say that one of things I really admire about you is that you don’t whine when things don’t go your way. Since it was suggested we tell you where you fan support is coming from, I will be watching you at Indy all next month “next door”, from much-warmer-lately Ohio (east of Columbus).

line on your 4th lap of qualification – so it looks like it was an “accident”. It was funny
watching you and Dario at the end of the qual talking and laughing. I am sure you two want to win

good race car drivers to win, win, win).

We will be rooting for you as always, it’s great having you back!! I have to tell you about my best race weekend ever. I will never forget the 2006 Indy 500 when me and my buddy got 2 tickets to Blue for you’re after race party. I work for Sharp Electronics and Scott Sharp got us in. That would have been enough to call it the best 500 we have ever been to. The only thing was we hung around outside like 2 teenage groupies waiting to see what might happen. The next thing we know we are invited to go back to your place “to continue the party”. Scott invited us, of course he came in dropped off the Petron and left. We basically knew no one. Your whole family was there; your sister, mom, and dad could not have been nicer. We played cards at your kitchen table with a couple guys who I think felt them same way we did, and Larry Foyt. Mister big bucks kept pulling out hundreds. Now I don’t play very often and it showed but I just called the lost a “entertainment expense”. Anyway we still talk about it today and will never forget it. Thanks for the hospitality (Although I think you kept looking at us like who are these guys in my house), and the memories. You pick up two more fans for life!!
I’ve been reading about some bad weather y’all had up in Kansas and that rain is excepted tomorrow too. Hopefully, there will be a big break in the weather and you and Dario can work your ways up to the front together.

Call me Crazy! but I’m looking forward to watching Helio and Dario racing each other from the back of the pack all the way to the front. So far Versus has done a good job covering all the racing going on too, not just the front row. It should be exciting. I imagine I’ll be on the edge of my seat for this one. I think about you every time I hear this song. I remember seeing during your and Julianne’s “Dancing” confessionals that your name means “Sun”. It fits because you are like sunshine. You light up the lives of everyone are you, including your fans and me. I don’t have the best self esteem in the world, but you have that habit of making me feel good about myself all the time. I’m so happy to see your smiling face back on your website along with your kind and positive words. Not many people would have continued to let their fans know that they were reading all of the messages that were being posted and that the messages were helping them through a difficult time.
The haircut looks awesome. I was so excited when I heard the trial verdict last Friday…I happened to be at my Mom’s house and when I saw it on the TV…I let out a scream that the whole neighborhood probably heard.
That news definitley made my weekend brighter and nothing could wipe the smile off of my face especially knowing that you were going to be racing at Long Beach! Looking forward to watching the Kansas race and I know that you are going to do awesome! I predict there will be a fench climb on Sunday!!!!!

Helio, I saw your comment in the other post and I’d just like to say thank YOU.
I think I said it once before but you really have touched so many of our lives. I’m sure if you asked, every one of us could tell you a story. How you made us smile when we were going through our own ‘personal race’. How your dancing brought joy to our lives. How something you said about life touched our hearts. That’s why we were here every day, Helio. That’s why we prayed for you constantly for those long seven weeks. That’s why we never gave up hope that you would be back in that race car. I’d just like to say thank you, Helio. Not many people would have taken the time to make it very clear that their fans helped them in the way that you have this last week. Every article I’ve seen, you’ve mentioned your fans pulling you through this. Your humbleness only makes me love you more. I can’t wait to come to my first race this year and meet you and tell you thank you for all that you’ve done in my life, Helio.
Now, on a lighter note, your hair looks great! I’m also loving the face scruff you have going on in the picture.
