On Friday (May 8th) we released a Major update to Helio’s Website.
Here are the most important changes besides some bugs and fixes.
Personal area of website launched.
- Pages Added: The Athlete, Family, In the News
New “Follow HELIO” bar added to the right hand side.
- Links to Helio’s Official profiles:
Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, and RSS feed.
Latest Comments added to the front page.
- Name of the latest commenters on the homepage
featuring a link directly to their comment.
- Post comments and SEE YOUR NAME ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!
Blogs and News are now united!
- It was confusing to find where the blog and news where posted.
- Now they are all one thing. BLOG.
- Posted by Helio directly, and by Castroneves Racing PR.
Next changes are going to be:
- Multimedia section (Photos and Videos)
- The long waited PORTUGUESE version of the website

Helio you are the greatest. I loved your win Sun. I know you were so emotional and I don’t blame u for that. I just love you and I loved you on Dancing with the Stars. I am going to order some merchandise from Indy of you. I printed out some pictures off the Web.
I am getting ready to have chemo and radiation for some cancer and I want to be able to enjoy all of your races. I need your prayers.

New website looks super.
The personal info is really nice. Our prayers were with him during his tax trial and nice to see his sister’s support & encourgement throughout. It was great to see his quick return to Long Beach. We celebrate in his Indy pole position and and wish him success today.
Would like also to see some sort of merchandise store on line. We have a slot car track that we encourge kids to earn good grades & to improve grades in school to earn free track time. It would be great to be able to order an autographed photo from Helio to hang up in the work area.

@Kaitlyn: Maybe a prize for the winning shirt design could be an autographed fihished version.
@Chuck in Atlanta: I think that is an AMAZING idea! I would definitely be interested in designing something for that, and it would be so exciting for the people who won to get their shirts made and put up on here! Great idea, Chuck!
Here’s an idea: Why not have a contest for your on-line community? Allow fans/participants to submit designs for a new Helio t-shirt to the web site via pdf, jpg or gif file. As long as people click a box acknowleging that all rights to the design belong to Helio and/or Penske prior to submission, it could really engage people and be a lot of fun.
Also, if Helio does any type of promotions involving an auction for chartitable organizations or some type for an charitable event, the web site could open it up to the on-line community.
@Barb from Indianapolis: Barb, you are lucky to live close to the event so you can go.
With regard to the merchandise, I think the issue may be that Penske is probably responsible for merchandising because of contractual trademeark rights and licensing. If that’s the case, then Penske could probably do get more out there to the public. It’s probaby not the organization’s primary focus but they should strike while the iron errrr Helio is hot so they don’t miss the promotional benefits and sales revenue. I was shocked last year to find that during the Indiapolis 500 Helio’s web site was down for constructin as was the Penske store web site. The improvement this year is obvious. They have done a much better job. 
Helio, I agree you need a special area for upcoming TV appearances, interviews, etc. before they happen so we can watch them.
And you absolutely do need your own merchandise for sale. I have been out to the Indianapolis track 3 times in the last 1 1/2 weeks, and the museum gift shop didn’t have ANYTHING Helio Castroneves, no shirts, no hot wheels, nothing! I finally on the third try found the Penske trailer open, although it is wayyyy out in the parking lot along with Danica’s & Dixon’s.
I’ve been looking for some Indycar or Penske or Helio pet products. NASCAR has them (dog leash, dog collar, toys, bowls, etc.) There is so much more merchandising to be done not just by you but by Indycar in general. Your fans and Indycar fans have a hard time finding stores that even carry much of anything Indycar.
Love the new and improved website. Only have one suggestion but it looks like most everyone else has already mentioned it — Helio merchandise! Would love to see an online store where we can purchase Helio clothing and other items.

Some suggestions for additions to the site:
A list of public appearances, television interviews/appearances. (before they occur)
Helio merchandise (would rather buy direct)
Snail mail or email address for fans to send photos, letters, etc.

I love the website with your smiling face. It is so great to see the pictures of you and your wonderful family. You are a very lucky person to have such a loving and supporting family. But that dosen’t suprise me because you are such a special person. I hope you will start letting us know when you have apperances. I sure hope you will be back on ET and dancing with the stars. You did such a great job on ET. What a wonderful person you are selling 300 tickets at $1 each for the Texas speedway race. You know Heilo you are such a wonderful person to your fans that is why we all love you.

Additions and improvements to the web site look great!! Not sure if I missed it but I think there should be a link to Helio-related merchandise as well. I know he has an annual calendar and a t-shirt. I’m sure Penske and Amazon (along with other retailers) would be receptive (or grateful) for the link to each. Some retailers even pay for web sites to link to their on-line stores. Would love to see Helio do one of the AT&T Internet Commercials (faster than Andy Roddick or Faster than Floyd Mayweather). He’d also be a perfect pitchman for sunglasses.

The new features look great!! Just in time for all the Indy news. Was wondering if there will be merchandise available sometime soon(on-line/at the track)? I know there is some stuff on Penskeracing.com, but about 2-3yrs ago Helio had his own trailer @Indy, and I liked everything, as everything was different, didn’t look like everybody elses. I did by a t-shirt and it fit very well. Thanks
