Congrats Helio! You’re not only a great race driver, but a true gentleman as well. Other sports which they had such a man as yourself in their ranks. Yesterday I can honestly say that your tears were our tears. Your win was our win. When the day comes and it’s time for youto take a different path in life, wa as race fans can say with complete honesty & pride that we truely saw a great talent, but a great & humble man as well. Helio - It was nice to see and hear you on your ET video, with that smile that we missed so much before but that is in the past, as you say. Cannot still believe your racing comeback for somebody who has not driven for 5-6 months - you are amazing! Indy500 race is just around the corner. Helio, the response of your website to our requests for information, videos, etc. is absolutely incredible. I’ve never seen anyone’s website respond so quickly to requests! You should be very proud of whoever is maintaining this website…it is being done very professionally and with love.
I’ll be at carb day tomorrow with my daughter and my two grandsons. My 10 year old grandson has become really interested in Indycar racing due to my (grandma’s) interest. It is such a joy to watch him experience this awesome sport for the first time!
I also drove my mother (89 years old) around the track on Wednesday, as she is the one who originally got me interested in Indycar racing many many years ago. It was a one-of-a-kind exhilirating experience for both of us. I don’t think either of us stopped smiling for about an hour after we finished driving around the oval. What a priviledge it was to experience just a tiny part of what you do…unbelievably exciting and fun!!!!

It’s amazing. You talk about your family and you smile. You talk about your relationship and you smile. But when you talk about racing, your whole face lights up. Your eyes sparkle and you get excited and you remind me of a little boy at Christmas. Sometimes, when you look at someone, you can see that they were born to do something. And when I look at you, I know you were born to race. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us.
