Helio wins the Indy 500 for the third time! He is only the 9th driver to achieve this and the first foreign-driver to do so.
He Thanks EVERYONE who made this possible, and of course without you FANS he would not be able to achieve this incredible mark.
This is a very emotional and unbelievable win, he is thrilled to be where he belongs!
With this win, Helio jumps to the second spot in the driver’s point standings towards the championship.

I was there in the crowd on Indy 500 Race day when you won for the third time, and myself and everyone around me erupted into cheers when you won. AWESOME! Soooooo happy for you. I’ve really enjoyed all the interviews you’ve given surrounding the 500, and the Victory Dinner broadcast. Everyone says it and so will I…your zest for life, your contagious personality, positive attitude are so fun and uplifting. You inspire lots of people! (loved the article in IndyCar magazine last year you did on positive thinking -very good). You are obviously my favorite driver, and I’m so happy for you. Oh, thanks for signing a photo I took of you at the track during the month of May 2 yrs. ago. It’s framed, on the wall and enjoyed by all! Have a terrific season. I think YOU will be the points Champion this year. You’ve already won 2 races! 
This message is late, but heart-felt. From the day I heard about the trial, to the day you were declared innocent, I prayed every day for you. Honestly. As you said in interviews, God answered all our prayers! It was a happy day! (If you weren’t able to race, my heart just wouldn’t be into the IRL season as usual.)

I agree that you are a class act, and a gentleman as described by an ABC commentator. Your positive and realistic attitude, I think, is rubbing on your teammates and even Dario. You did let us know that it will be difficult to pass any car coming from the back in this short oval. You did finish despite car problems and did not quit. I felt bad for Tony, your friend, for not finishing and not feeling good during the race. Like you, he didn’t whine…..unlike some racers in NASCAR and open-wheel racing group.
Please ask Team Penske to give you a fast and mechanically superior car for this coming race at Texas. You have a great crew and teammates. You can still win lots of races and win the 2009 championship series. Have a fun and safe race. HUGS from one of your many fans (especially from So CA).

Sorry how the race turned out today. I was proud of your post-race interview. As always, you are a class act Helio! Also, toward the end of the race, one of the ABC commentators called you a “gentleman” for moving out of the way of the leaders. I agree. I don’t really understand all the rules of racing, but wasn’t Thomas Scheckter like 15 laps down at the end of the race? Why didn’t he get out of Ryan’s way? The good guys didn’t win today…but you will!! Blessings will be coming your way in Texas, I’m sure!!

Way to hang in there today. As far as the championship goes, you’ve got plenty of time to get there. You’re the only one I know that could be right up there after missing the first race!!! I have a feeling that Texas will be good to you this year!!! I’ll be watching and waiting for another fence climb from 50 miles south of Dallas. If you listen closely, you’ll hear me cheering you on!!!!! Have fun, drive fast and be safe!

11th, 3 laps down. Not so good. But at least you finished the race, your championship dreams are still there (you’ve got 12 races to get up to #1 in points), and you were still smiling post-race. Lots of hugs to you and a pat on the back for your attitude post-race. You are a good example of how a driver should act after bad days.
After the Nationwide race yesterday, Kyle Busch, who got punted by his own teammate, Joey Logano, decided to put on a little “display” of his distaste with the outcome. He got out of his car, threw his helmet, gloves, earplugs, and other stuff inside, and stalked off. It hasn’t been the first time since he’s acted so negative (he’s run third and complained about his “bad” day).
Thank you for having such a good attitude post race today. I know you were disappointed, but I’m glad you managed to put a smile on your face and not whine.
Oh well. On to the Lone Star State! I know now, for sure, that you’re going to be ready to go for Texas Saturday night. Hopefully, I’ll see you sometime that day and you’ll be climbing yourself a fence afterwards. (try and climb it past the start/finish OK)

I think Indy racing has become a bad influence on me. I think of you everytime I’m behind the steering wheel. I was meeting my husband for dinner and I always have to go around this curve. Usually there is no one beside me but on Tuesday there was. So I hear myself thinking, “They are coming up on the inside, watch to your left,left,left. You can do it, you can get onto the highway from the off ramp first.” The bad thing is I have always been a leadfoot, so I’m trying to get this out of my head. Maybe I’m just getting ready for when Tom and I go to the Kentcky Speedway in October to take a class and then drive Indy cars ourselves. Oh well. We will be watching you from our recliners at home for the Milwaukee Mile. We may be watching it on TiVo though since our daughter in-law my still be in the hospital after having our grandson tomorrow. Thanks for signing the little “Up and coming Race Car Driver” onsie for him. My son and daughter in-law loved it. Lots of Love and be safe at the race. BIG HUG from Rhonda

You are the best. I was in tears when you won at Indy. I was so happy for you. Last year when you came to the Philip Morris offices here in Richmond, VA, my husband was lucky enough to have breakfast with you and Ryan. I only wished I could have been in his shirt pocket to be there. I’m lobbying hard to get in there this year. I can’t wait to see you at the race. I know you will kick butt just like you did at Indy.

I attended my first ever Indy 500 on Sunday and it was such a thrill! To witness the emotion when you won for a THIRD time was something special. You really connect with the fans, and are a genuine, good hearted person.

Me emocionei muito com a sua vitória e com o que sua mãe e seu pai disseram à Band logo que a corrida acabou. Torci muito para que tudo desse certo com você e que você retornasse às pistas. Vencer pela terceira vez as 500 milhas é simplesmente incrível. Vou tentar estar nas próximas 500 milhas para vê-lo alcançar o penta!
Congratulations Helio! I was at Indy in 2001 and 2002 but I didn’t get to see you climb the fence. I made sure to wait around to see you climb the fence this time and I will be there next year to see you climb the fence again.

Congratulations on the win, Helio! You deserved it more than anyone else out there this year. You are such a humble champion, you have taught me a lot just by your actions and words these last several years. I’m a future racing driver, born and raised in Indianapolis. I’ve never raced professionally, nor have I ever driven a true race car, but your story gives me the courage to go for it and know that God will reward me with a professional racing seat on someone’s team as long as I work hard, am dedicated, and never lose faith. I’m going to Bridgestone Racing Academy in Toronto, Canada once I save the money, and taking their 8 month race mechanic’s training course. Before I can know how to drive the car, I must know 100% about how the car works-from the tires to piston rings. Not trying to be mushy, but you are my inspiration, and you have given me the drive to pursue the dream of my life. Thanks to a true champion. You are truly the best!!!

With the grace of God, there you go again! How sweet this victory must feel for you. I woke up Sunday morning feeling the goodness in your spirit, so I knew it was your day to fulfill one more dream. The Bible says that when you know God hears you, you know that you will receive what it is you are requesting. God has heard the abundance of prayers requesting your complete regeneration, and we too have been blessed by witnessing your glory. May you never stop dreaming, Helio, because your appreciation for the goodness in life despite adversity is an inspiration to some who have stopped or nearly stopped believing in and reaching for their own bright light to shine upon them. But remember this too, if life ever becomes burdensome, the burden never originates with God because “with evil things, God does not try anyone.” (James 1:12-13) Also, Christ’s yoke will always provide refreshment for our souls.(Matthew 11:29-30)

I taped your appearance on “Regis and Kelly” this morning (actually my mom did), but I’ve seen a pic on IndyCar.com of you with them. How did you get Regis in that car? He’s never struck me as brave enough to climb in that. It also looks like you enjoyed your time with the Rockettes. No surprise to me. I’ll be taping your appearance on WPIX in the morning and on David Letterman next Monday.
I used your positive attitude when it came to TAKS tests and I got commended on EVERYTHING! Thanks for being such an inspiration to others who might not usually look on the positive side of a situation and never stop being yourself.
Congratulations again on your big win Sunday. I’m still smiling about it. It was a memorable win that will be remembered for years to come. I saw your victory pictures yesterday. Little Eduardo is getting so big and is already on his way to being as handsome as his uncle. It’s hard to believe he’ll be one next month (I’m sure his first birthday party will be planned around Uncle Helio’s schedule and you’ve got plenty of presents for him).

We were in Vegas on Sunday, so i had to record the race for me to watch when we got home.
I heard the first few minutes on XM radio, and stayed away from all tv’s (with news coverage) and away from any sports bars in Vegas. My husband found out who won late, late Sunday night while watching ESPN in the hotel. And when he told me that he knew, i wanted to kill him! I begged him not to tell us because i wanted to watch it when we got home…and yes, he kept his mouth shut!
As soon as we walked in the door, at home, it was go time!

I was yelling at you on the tv, i was upset when you lost the pole…you had me on pins and needles!
I jumped off the couch, screamed for a little…………….my goodness, you did it!

Much as I hate to do it, I must disagree with you. After the race, you said you were honored to have such fans. It is the other way around. WE are honored to be YOUR fans. I admire you for many reasons, but I admire persistence and you showed that (as well as other admirable qualities) yesterday. When you passed Dixon, I jumped out of the chair I had been sitting on the edge of, soon I was shaking, and then was crying with you at the end. How DO you stay calm during a race????? Congratulations to you and your whole family on your third Indy win. I hope it isn’t being too greedy to wish you more of them. Shoot for that championship…we’ll all be here cheering for you.

WAY TO GO HELIO !!! What an incredible race and win for you and your team. I am proud to be a fan of yours and look forward to seeing you in Texas in a few weeks, hopefully to see another fantastic win. It was great as well to see you and your team celebrate the win with your many devoted fans by climbing the fences even when IRL officals and TV didnt approve, I guess they didn’t pay attention to the sea of red in the stands and who was the show all month at Indy. Parabéns Hélio! Confesso que a tarde de ontem foi extremamente angustiante para mim. Esperei a semana toda para ver a Indy 500, queria ver o mais espetáculo automobilístico do mundo. Ví todas as voltas, menos umas 8, da volta 190 até a 198. Não deu. Meu coração não aguenta tanta emoção. Só fui voltar a ver a corrida quando faltavam 2 para terminar. Fiquei muito emocionado com a sua vitória, com a sua volta por cima, como todo bom brasileiro faz. Saiba que a emoção atingiu o Luciano do Vale e Felipe Giafone também, todos choraram. Você renasceu das cinzas, saiu de um problema pessoal, juntou os cacos, trabalhou, correu atrás e venceu no templo do automobilismo, pela 3ª vez.
Como Jesus disse: “…os humilhados serão exaltados…”. Parabéns pela vitória e que Deus te abençoe muito. A sua emoção depois de vencer a corrida foi uma das cenas mais belas que eu vi na minha vida. Sua história é digna de Hollywood. Congratulations SPIDER-MAN!! You are a heroe!
