(Indianapolis, USA – Wednesday, May 26, 2010) Helio Castroneves of Team Penske, will launch on Wednesday in Indianapolis, his autobiographical book entitled “Victory Road – The Ride of My Life.” The event will be divided into two parts. The first will be at the bookstore of the Museum of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, between 11 am and noon, local time. The other will be from 7-8pm in downtown Indianapolis, at Border’s bookstore (11 South Meridian Street #110).

Good luck next week in Edmonton, Helio. Also, like the others I read your book and absolutely loved it. It provided so much insight into your life, your love of racing, your relationship with your family, and how you got where you are today. It’s on my “re-read” list! Sorry about the crash – but of course glad that you’re ok. And thanks for being “Helio” even when it’s difficult to give an interview.
As a PS…I agree with Kelly. I’m thrilled to be able to watch Versus the rest of the season. ABC’s coverage has been poor – but yesterday was beyond poor – downright awful!
Helio, We were so glad to see you get out of your car safe and sound. It was even better to hear you give the interview. We’re sorry for your DNF, I know it effects your points for the Championship.
I again want to tell you how much we enjoyed your book. I have on friend that has finished reading it and also loved it. I have another friend in the process of reading it. When you spoke of the the trial it brought back so man memories. I remember praying pretty much every minute of the day for you, Kati, Mr. Miller and your family. Parts of the book made me laugh and parts made me cry. Thank you so much for letting us into your life. You are a fantastic man, racer, father, boyfriend, son, and brother.
Have fun up there in Canada. The race at Edmonton will go much better. See you at Mid-Ohio.
BIG HUG from Rhonda and Tom
Glad you’re okay after that hard hit into the tire wall. My husband and I have a new nickname for Vitor… Grandma Meira.
Please ask the IRL to dump ABC/ESPN and contract solely with Versus. Today’s coverage was horrible. One of the announcers spoke so softly you would have thought he was covering a golf game. Neither announcer seemed to even want to be there. And the fact that they wear suits when covering racing is the first sign that ABC/ESPN is out of touch with the spirit of racing and the IRL. Upscale doesn’t automatically lend itself to suits & ties. Having side by side viewing when under caution during commercials but not during green light racing… What’s up with that! They never showed us what happened to take Alex Lloyd out of the race. When you and Justin were running second and first respectively, they didn’t show us your pit stops and instead focused on someone not in the running. Ok, enough complaining. On a positive note, it was about time the IRL pulled Milka Duno out of a race. She’s out of her league.
Godspeed, Helio.
Kelly~
Good luck in Toronto this weekend Helio. And don’t get into it with PT again. He he.
I finished reading the book this weekend after I received it for my birthday. It was very well written and really let everyone see you in a different light. I have a whole new respect for you and think you are a great role model for kids. I felt so bad when you went through the whole tax situation, but reading this I couldn’t even begin to see how hard it truly was. I believe everything we go through makes us stronger. Clearly that has happened for you. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and I wish you, Adriana, and Mikaella the VERY best life has to offer.
Helio, Since I work at a library, I was so excited to see that your book was on the New Biography display. I told several of my friends (that aren’t race fans)and some are reading it now and some have it on reserve to read it. Some of our kids will be reading the copy we bought at Indy.
See you at Mid-Ohio. Love to all! BIG HUG from Rhonda and Tom
Well, the book arrived on that Friday after the signing in Coral Gables and I read it from start to finish that weekend. It was such a great “read”, I was captivated and just couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed all the photos and quotes and was completely impressed. What a story!!!!! Helio you painted an incredible picture of your whole wonderful family. Through the chapters I laughed, cried, and was caught up in your eventful life. Many lessons were learned by you in trusting heros from your past and going through a heartbreaking series of stepping stones to what is now your beautiful future. The trial brought back such emotions, seeing just what you all went through. I remember praying for you and Kati and your Mom & Dad every day, harder than I’ve ever prayed before, and rejoicing when the outcome finally came and your innocence was won. The truth finally was known! What we, your fans, knew all along.
Thank you, Helio, for writing this meaningful book. Victory Road is a true treasure and your signing it “To Janee, Stay Driven!” really thrills me. I’ve listed Victory Road under my favorite books on my Facebook profile page and am recommending it to all my friends.
You’re all in my thoughts and prayers, always.
Just had to say congratulations on your fantastic book! What an eye-opener, and so inspirational. I got it over the weekend and have already finished yet. I couldn’t put it down! Hope things are going well for Adriana and baby Mikaella. It’s time to get married Dude!
Helio, Wishing you a belated Happy Fathers Day. I’m sure it was fantastic. The race was great Sunday. Second place finish is good! Helps with the points. Wanted to let you know that Tom and I loved the book. Hope to see you at Mid-Ohio. Tom may have to have heart surgery for a clogged artery. We will know more on Monday. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Oh well. Tell Everyone “Hi”. Lots of Love and a BIG HUG from Rhonda and Tom.
Congratulations on the run today Helio!!! Second’s excellent after a few off runs.
And I’m glad that it was an old friend that passed you at the end. If it couldn’t be you, I would’ve wanted TK. The pics I’ve seen of you two goofing off in VL are fantastic.
Enjoy another week off before you head back to the twisty turny tracks. I’ll be watching and cheering for you on the fourth.
Happy Father’s Day Helio!!!! Mikaella is so beautiful, and I know that you’re a proud Papa.
Happy 1st Father’s Day Helio!!!
Hope you can get a win today and cross Iowa off your list of places to win and fences to climb. LOL!
Hi Helio,
We want to wish you a Happy Father’s day! Hope you enjoy your 1st father’s day with your beautiful daughter. Best of luck in the race today.
Dave and Deb
A quick note Helio to wish you a first very happy fathers day with many more to follow.I hope you have a glorious day with beautiful Mikaella …………topping it off with a good finish at Iowa.
Your fans will be cheering you on as always……Good Luck as always.
Good luck tomorrow! And Happy Father’s Day.
Great book…it reads like it comes from the heart. The Lewis Carroll quote on page 264 brings the biggest giggle-loved it. Disappointed there is no mention of Tuggy and disappointed in TK. I will never look at him the same. Good luck this weekend…and Happy Father’s Day. As I said in my Twitter message…your first Father’s Day is priceless.
Was the first to take out your book from the downtown Broward County, Fl (Ft Lauderdale) library earlier this week. Two days later your friend Jack McMann stopped by my office looking for my brother. He had your book in hand, so a conversation ensued even though we had never met. I finished the book last night, and it was an exciting read. I’m a motorsports enthusiast, have driven a bit in the past (I’m now 66), and have always been of the opinion that you are one of the most talented and motivated drivers of the modern era. But most of all, you are to be admired for your positive attitude, your smile, your ethics, and your enthusiasm. Motorsports is a rough and tumble profession…both as a driver and a businessman. Your positive attributes are noticed. May God bless you and your family in all future endeavors.
Helio,
Being a native Texan, I just knew you would make a “big” finish at the Texas race. My husband and I went to the Indy race, and we were hoping to see #4 in person…you came close for awhile! Our group all knows I am your #1 fan, and when I drew your name in our “race pot”, I could barely contain myself! It just made my day!!!
By the way, I picked up the last copy of your book at the Indy airport…wow!! I too finished the book in record time. Thank you for sharing your life so openly. Being a “family” man makes you so special. Obviously God has a great plan for you and I cannot wait to see how it will all play out.
Thank you for bringing excitement to all of the races. I look forward to meeting you someday…I need to figure out a way first.
Your biggest fan,
Linda
Helio,
I just finished your book. God does indeed have a plan!!!
Sending you and your whole family much love from Texas.
Lisa
Helio,
FINALLY got my copy of “Victory Road” today and finished it within two hours!!! I loved it!!! I could tell it was written in your own words. I couldn’t put it down.
One of my favorite parts – you and Gil jet-lagged at Indy. Too funny. You are STILL my favorite Penske duo.
Thank you Helio for writing such a great book for all of us to enjoy.I read the book in 5 hours..can’t remember the last time i did that! However,I laughed at some of your descriptions and shed a few tears for your difficulties throughout the read, but i loved it and would reccomend everyone rushing out to buy it.The book is so insightful into what it takes to get to the top level of racing, the highs and the lows for everyone involved in that rise.Thank you also for including DWTS and Julianne and most importantly Adriana and Mikaella, now the loves of your life.
I bet you were very upset about Texas………would have loved to hear the translation of what you said to Moreas!! I think my neighbours heard “my translation” when I saw you hit the wall!!The good news you are still 4th in points and it was a win for Team Penske, good for Ryan.Onward and upward to Iowa, hope your test there will help and put you next in Victory Lane.
Hi Helio,
So sad to see your night cut short, but thankful that you are ok!!! Hopefully next year I’ll be there in person to cheer you on. (Almost got to be there this year) You’ll be back “on track” in Iowa.
Take care,
Lisa
Glad you’re alright Helio. Didn’t get to see the race but I hear that you were made at Moraes and he was mad at you when it comes to the accident. Hope that, after the two of you calm down some, you can have a little talk about the wreck. Love him (not as much as you though).
Am happy for Ryan though!
Enjoy your week off! Hope you get to have some bonding time with your daughter!
Can’t wait for Iowa. I’m know you’ve already got a dream to climb that fence especially since it’s your first Father’s Day.
I wrote that quote in reverse. It was supposed to be “Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn.” ~
Congrats to team Penske for ryan’s win. But I have to also commend Danica because this is a lesson for all the men in racing. Last week @ Indy Danica was booed by fans most likely because she said she had the worst car of her career which did not reflect well on her team. For those who thought it was poor sportsmanship take lesson from a woman’s plight. Women, generally speaking, yield to a man’s leadership and look up to men for it. But when push comes to shove, Hell knows no scorn like a woman’s fury. It isn’t that we’re emotional but that we keep silent until we explode because we can’t take the excuses anymore. We feel like Nike: Just Do It! This week Danica was redeemed because men don’t listen until we women explode! That is when our memories become our best friend too. Danica exploded and Andretti finally paid attention. So maybe men should look more at themselves as the reason they don’t understand women. Hahaha, but seriously…. Regardless what time of her cycle because you know what Leviticus 17:11 says.
OMG! Helio I understand your frustration but I’m glad you are okay. Thank God!
Kelly~
The race is soon to come on. I finished your book a couple hours ago and wanted to say Bravo!!!! It’s an excellent read. It is motivational and inspirational. I have already recommended it to a friend who isn’t a racing fan, but she is intrigued by your story. Godspeed to you and yours.
Kelly~
Have a great race today! Godspeed.
Kelly~
While reading chapter twelve I was reminded of an experience I had at the Sonoma racetrack. It was the first time I attended a race. Sadly, to this date my only time, but we want to go again. I had commented online that I wanted to see you face to face to know if your spirit conveyed on tv was as true to life in person. I am an obnoxious but very spiritual person in the sense that I know my God, the God of the Bible, as face to face as Moses did and whatever the spirit reveals is always truthful even when I don’t immediately know the details. The first time I walked the pits and saw you there the spirit was burdening, telling me that your world was going to come crashing down on you very hard. The spirit was so unmistakably powerful that I wished I could stop the inevitable. I told my husband that evening that he’s not going to crash, but it’s financial. He said, “I guarantee you he has no financial worries.” I said “I know, but the spirit doesn’t lie.” I didn’t post my experience online for fear it would jinx you on the track. At the Penske site I had told one person but through a private message. Come that fateful day in October, it proved true. Your book gives details that I had not known but reveals just how big that crash came down like a roof caving in on you. You wondered why just as I had been asking our since Sonoma. I’m still trying to figure out why God chose to tell me. Maybe the answer is revealed in your book as the story continues.
Helio, looking forward to seeing you in that stetson again tonight! Go for it!
Sending you Love, Prayers, Good Luck and Godspeed!
Be super quick!
Most important, stay very safe out there!
@Nancy: And it just keeps getting better. Onto chapter six….
Helio, I was once a fan of a beautiful dancer and then became a fan of a great champion of racing and in life. Now, I think you’re my hero. You don’t know me but that’s saying allot because in all my fifty years in this world I have faithfully resisted having idols before me. But you don’t outshine my God, you simply reflect His Spirit well. Godspeed.
Kelly~
After reading Kelly’s comments on your book – I’ll either find it in a bookstore tomorrow or order it online. Can’t wait to read it! Good luck in Texas tomorrow.
I hope I can express the point I’m about to make correctly. Recently I expressed to my husband that I don’t understand the motivation of the smaller (less rich) teams in Indycar who work so hard to participate in racing if they can’t truly compete with teams that have nearly unlimited funds. –Although the last 500 shows otherwise.– I told him they must really like the sport. Then, I just read the first couple chapters of Victory Road and have to say I can see how much racing is, figuratively speaking, in their blood. It is what completes them or makes them feel fulfilled. Now I think I have a greater appreciation for any team who simply makes it to a race because that in itself is a victory. I didn’t think, Helio, that you could make me any more a fan of racing than you already have, but I have to say even the first two chapters of your book has given me a greater appreciation for the sport than I thought possible. Godspeed, Helio.
Kelly~
WooHoo! Just learned your book is available on iBooks. So I no longer have to wait to get to the bookstore. I just have to wait for my husband to come home to show me how to purchase something from iTunes. You wouldn’t believe how much I use my iPad, but knowing how it works is another thing. It’s a little embarrassing. Can’t wait to read your book, Helio. Godspeed.
Kelly~
My dad texted me at graduation practice and said my copy got shipped today. Can’t wait to start my week with it.
And good luck and be safe in TX Helio. If it weren’t for graduation stuff I’d be there cheering you on.
