THREE TIME INDY 500 CHAMPION, HELIO CASTRONEVES TO VISIT CHILDREN AT PLANTATION GENERAL HOSPITAL ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2010

Plantation General Hospital (PGH) will be receiving the visit from three time Indy Champion and Dancing with the Stars Champion, Helio Castroneves at 11am on Friday, September 24, 2010. Mr. Castroneves will be visiting with Pediatric patients at PGH, lifting spirits and signing miniature race cars and photographs for the children and their families.

Members of the media are invited to participate in the event. Instructions for media are as follows:

1. Contact Michelle Marsh at 954-401-7853 or michelle.marsh@hcahealthcare.com to confirm attendance.
2. Cameras will be allowed in the hospital for this visit escorted by hospital personnel.
3. Media is to park in designated reserved spots on the North side of the main entrance (security to see identification from media).
4. Media can set up for brief interviews with Mr. Castroneves after the visit in Classroom 4, first floor in the hospital if interested.
5. All interviews to be completed by 1pm.

After leading 153 of 200 laps of the race and recorded also the fastest lap (lap 13), the Brazilian driver Helio Castroneves won today at the Twin Ring Motegi, Japan, one of his most emblematic victories. The result at the 16th and penultimate race of the Indycar season assured Helio his 25th victory in Indy. He got the most possible points; 53 points (50 or winning the race, 1 for the pole position, and 2 points for leading the most laps) and climbed to third place in the championship.

Unlike what happened in his previous victory in Kentucky, this time Helio didn’t race based on fuel economy. On the contrary, maintained a steady pace and high performance from the start, when he stayed on the edge after starting from pole position, obtained the day before.

The efficient work in the pits of Team Penske also contributed to the victory. Castroneves stopped four times and each time they were returned to the track in front.

“The team have done well and this win is special, to be celebrated by us all,” said Castroneves. “The car was very well setup all weekend long and maintained a very strong pace. In the pits, my crew was great, “he added. The only problem was reported by him in one of the restart, when he gave a “back” position and lost to Ryan Briscoe (Team Penske) and Franchitti. In recovery, he won a position on the track and overtook the teammate in the pits.

Depois de liderar 153 das 200 voltas da prova e assinalar também a melhor volta (na 13ª passagem), o piloto brasileiro Helio Castroneves faturou hoje no Twin Ring Motegi, Japão, uma de suas vitórias mais emblemáticas. O resultado na 16ª e penúltima etapa da Indycar garantiu a ele a 25ª conquista na Indy. Ele somou a pontuação máxima possível, 53 pontos, e subiu para o 3º lugar no campeonato.

Diferentemente do que ocorreu na sua vitória anterior, em Kentucky, dessa vez o piloto do Team Penske não fez uma prova baseada na economia de combustível. Pelo contrário, manteve um ritmo constante e de alta performance desde a largada, quando permaneceu na ponta após partir da pole position, obtida no dia anterior.

Os agrupamentos que resultavam das bandeiras amarelas que se acumularam, em total de cinco (50 voltas neutralizadas no total), eram dissipados logo nas primeiras voltas após as relargadas, comprovando um desempenho praticamente inalterado. O trabalho eficiente nos pits do Team Penske também contribuiu para a vitória. Castroneves parou quatro vezes e em todas elas foi devolvido à pista na frente.

“A equipe está de parabéns e essa vitória é especial, para ser festejada por todos nós”, disse Castroneves. “O carro esteve muito bem acertado o final de semana todo e deu para andar num ritmo bem forte. Nos pits, meu pessoal foi ótimo”, completou. O único problema relatado por ele foi em uma das relargadas, quando deu uma “traseirada” e perdeu posição para Ryan Briscoe (Team Penske) e Franchitti. Na recuperação, conquistou uma posição na pista e superou o companheiro de equipe nos pits.

Helio Castroneves wins at Motegi his 39th pole position in the IZOD Indycar Series Indy, this was the fifth pole of the Team Penske driver in the Japanese circuit.

The Brazilian driver Helio Castroneves won the pole position today for the Indy Japan 300 race, the 16th and penultimate round of the 2010 IZOD Indycar Series. At Twin Ring Motegi oval the qualifying has marked the complete domination of Team Penske, with Australian Ryan Briscoe and Will Power guaranteeing two and three positions on the grid respectively. The race will take place this morning from Saturday to Sunday, from 11:00 pm EST time.

With the feat today, Castroneves has ratified its status as the winner of the most Indycar pole positions at Motegi. Now it’s five, also including the 2001, 2006, 2007 and 2008. On his career, this was the 39th pole at Indycar as a whole.

“It’s a huge team effort and to do a 1-2-3 for Team Penske is awesome,” Castroneves celebrated, not forgetting his group. “These guys deserve it. They work hard and I have to thank the staff at the headquarters, who also do an excellent job. Now we have to make it happen in the race, “he added.

Helio Castroneves conquista em Motegi a sua 39ª pole position na Indy, esta foi a quinta pole do piloto do Team Penske no circuito japonês.

O piloto brasileiro Helio Castroneves conquistou hoje a pole position para a prova Japan Indy 300, 16ª e penúltima etapa do IZOD Indycar Series 2010. Será disputada no oval Twin Ring Motegi e a classificação marcou o domínio completo do Team Penske, com os australianos Ryan Briscoe e Will Power garantindo as posições dois e três no grid, respectivamente. Com o feito de hoje, Castroneves ratificou a sua condição de maior poleman da Indycar em Motegi. Agora são cinco, incluindo também as de 2001, 2006, 2007 e 2008. No âmbito de sua carreira, esta pole foi a 39ª na Indy como um todo e 32ª na IRL, visto que já acumulava sete desde os tempos da Cart.

“É um esforço enorme da equipe e fazer 1-2-3 para o Team Penske é incrível”, festejou Castroneves, que não se esqueceu do grupo. “Esses meninos merecem isso. Eles trabalham duro e tenho de agradecer muito o pessoal da sede da equipe, que também faz um excelente trabalho. Agora temos de fazer acontecer na corrida”, completou.

Mesmo tendo um pit problemático e parando cinco vezes no total, o piloto brasileiro do Team Penske conseguiu economizar combustível e assumiu a liderança da prova nas voltas finais

Numa prova marcada pela superação de dificuldades e adoção de uma estratégia muito eficiente, o piloto brasileiro Helio Castroneves, de Team Penske de Fórmula Indy, obteve neste sábado, no Kentucky Speedway, a sua 24ª vitória na Fórmula Indy. Embora a disputa tivesse começado repleta de problemas para ele, Castroneves e seu estrategista Tim Cindric souberam administrar as adversidades e as transformaram em uma das mais eletrizantes vitórias de seu currículo, que lhe valeu subir para a 4ª colocação no campeonato da Indy Racing League e se manter matematicamente na disputa pelo título.

“Hoje foi uma noite maravilhosa e só prova o que eu sempre digo. A gente tem de encarar os problemas de frente, não esmorecer, aprender com eles e levantar a cabeça. Foi isso que meus camaradas e eu fizemos hoje. A corrida começou com problemas, mas conseguimos, com união e dedicação, mudar o destino da corrida. Não vou cansar de dizer, eu adoro esses caras e amo o Team Penske”, bradava um exultante Castroneves logo após deixar o seu Dallara Honda #3 e, literalmente, atirar-se nos braços de seus mecânicos.

Com o resultado no Kentucky Speedway, Castroneves subiu de 5º para 4º na classificação geral do campeonato e, no certame de ovais, agora é o 3º. No primeiro, está com 104 pontos de desvantagem para Will Power, seu companheiro de Team Penske e líder. Já na competição de ovais, sua pontuação o coloca 29 pontos atrás de Dario Franchitti, o ponteiro. Lembrando que, faltando duas provas para o cumprimento do calendário, estão em jogo, ainda, 106 pontos.
