Helio Castroneves started this past Monday in Sebring (FL), the first tests with the Dallara DW12 Chevrolet, new technical package that will be used during the 2012 season of the IZOD IndyCar Series. This year will be the 13th season of the Brazilian driver with Team Penske and his 15th in the category.

“In these early days, the goal is to get to know the car and make the necessary adjustments so that it has the best performance possible,” said Castroneves, who will have another test scheduled in Sonoma (CA) at the end of the month.

“Nesses dois primeiros dias, o objetivo é conhecer o carro e fazer os acertos necessário para que ele tenha a melhor performance possível”, adiantou Castroneves, que terá novo teste marcado na Sonoma (CA) no final do mês.

“Quero dar as boas-vindas para o Barfield, que tem longa experiência como diretor de provas, e já me coloquei a disposição para ajudar no que for preciso para melhorar esse setor, que tem sido alvo nos últimos tempos de algumas controvérsias. O presidente Randy Bernard está de parabéns por fazer as modificações necessárias e, também, por manter na IndyCar o ex-diretor de provas, o Brian Barnhart, que tem muita competência e sem dúvida continuará contribuindo para o crescimento da categoria”, disse Castroneves, que não escondeu seu descontentamento com algumas decisões de Barnhart, em ocasiões recentes.
