Helio Castroneves tested this past Monday, April 9, with the Dallara Chevrolet DW12 at Infineon Raceway, track located in the town of Sonoma in California. The test objectives were achieved, as it was possible to try various strategies developed by Team Penske for courses with these characteristics.
The entire Penske Team was at Sonoma, Helio’s team mates, the Australians Will Power and Ryan Briscoe were also in action at the of 2.3 mile and 12 curves track.
“We trained well in Sonoma, enough to meet our previously established program. We were able to try some solutions developed at the factory and others during training,” said Helio Castroneves.
“It was very positive because these solutions will enable us to have a very solid base when we come back here for the race in August and we will be able to use many of these datas in other tracks,” concluded the Brazilian with most records in the history of Indy, with 26 wins.
Castroneves remains in California, until next Sunday March 15, when he will run the third race of the IZOD IndyCar Series, a road course in Long Beach. He won this race back in 2001 and will now defend his championship lead after his victory in St. Petersburg and 3rd place at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama.
