Helio Castroneves prepares bold strategy for Mid-Ohio

This Sunday, August 5th, Helio Castroneves will start in 23rd place for the 12th race of the IZOD IndyCar Series, which will start at 1:00pm (EST) in the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. This position is mainly due to the Chevrolet engine swap, which earned him a penalty of 10 positions for changing the engine before the 1,850 miles required by regulation.

After fulfilling the activities of Friday, and still recovering from the flu, Castroneves started the day much better and continued working on the setup of his #3 Chevrolet Dallara DW12 in Practice 2. This task was interrupted, however, due to an accident with the British driver AJ Foyt Racong, Mike Conway, who was leaving the pit, while the Brazilian was on a quick lap.

“Our performance was good during the day, mainly because we had good progress on the car set-up, making up for missed practice last week here in Mid-Ohio. The crash with Conway was a shame, because he was actually trying to help me, paving the way and ended up on the same line as mine. It happens, what can we do, right? Qualifying in my group, lacked only a little bit to move forward to the next phase. So we are on track. My hand is cool, the flu has passed and the fact that I’ll start in 23 is not ideal, obviously, but it’s not the end of the world when it comes to Mid-Ohio, since there is much room to move and we will work of course with a different and bold strategy”, anticipated the driver of Team Penske.

The race will be broadcasted live at ABC, from 1pm EST.
